I appreciate the idea but it just wasn't executed well at all in my opinion. I like the explanation of how the thorn rune affects Michael's actions. Its gives Michael's evil more impact and his power feels ancient when you realize that withthat explanantion that there were 'Michaels' many times before and that there will always be at least one 'Michael' somewhere in the world.

It does make a certain amount of sense with some of the strange things shown in the first film, like his whole escape from the hospital.

Yeah but I think it just fell victim, in the end to poor storywriting it just seemed like the writers tried to put too much in a single movie and as a result it all got muddled and confusing. It lacked a certain structure to the Thorn scenes.
