The Burning is a 1981 slasher film directed by Tony Maylam, with music by Rick Wakeman.
Plot
It tells the story of a cruel, alcoholic caretaker at a summer camp (nicknamed Cropsy, after the huge garden shears he carries) who falls victim to a prank that went out of control and leaves him horribly burned and disfigured. Following his release from hospital, he returns to his old stomping ground and begins a murder spree.

I know this was not a favorite of yours, but personally I love this slasher. Made in the aftermath of Friday the 13th's success, and unapologetic recycling several themes from the latter it has some surprising moments. Not to mention a young Jason Alexander. The raft killing was both surprising and very gorey. Its not as good as the first 2 Fridays that it ultimately, for lack of a better term ripped off, but in the end its a campy fun slasher that doesn't try to be anything more than what it is. Of the many Friday the 13th ripoffs, many of which are almost unwatchable, this is a shinning star in the area of Friday copycats.
